Long Term Book Affair

Have you had a book that can’t seem to finish? You know those books that were enchanting at the beginning but seem to lose steam due to page count or the simple fact that something more interesting came along. I use to have one long term book affair. Now, it has become two affairs.

The first affair belongs to the classic Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervante. It was a really fun read that was one of the first books broke the fourth wall. This literary device meant that the characters were self aware of reality and poke fun at current events. I started reading Don Quixote at 2002. At present, I finished 75% of the book because I only read it during the summer breaks.

Witness to Hope - The Life of John Paul II

The new long term relationship belongs to Pope John Paul II’s biography Witness to Hope by George Weigel. I borrowed it from a friend and I am 50% done because I only read it when I get home early enough, which in reality is never.

If you have had similar long term affairs with books, please share your stories. Thanks
